b-o-r-e-d

Hwaduhh…
Bagaimana ya tipsnya mengatasi masalah lagi males kerja… hehe…
Mo ngapa2in males…
Kalau requirements ga lengkap, bisa2 dicancel… oh tidakk…
Apakah bekerja memang harus berat begini?
Mana waktu untuk having a quality time with my self?
Tadi malam sudah cukup memanjakan diri sih, nonton 3 film marathon di TV: V for Vendetta, The Nanny Diaries, sama 007 Casino Royale.
How nice.
V for Vendetta, mayan bagus juga, terutama suka banget ama actingnya Natalie Portman.
The Nanny Diaries, aku suka… mayan touchy and made me think… sort of…
007 Casino Royale… oh well, watched it just because I didn’t wanna go to bed yet and compared to the other channels, it was the best thing on TV :p
I’m bored… bored bored bored… what should I do, huh?
What options do I have?
Should I ask for a transfer or try to find a job in Jakarta?
Will I not get bored if I live and work there? Is it gonna make me happy? Will it solve my problems? Will I regret my decision if it doesn’t work out as I expected?
Menyebalkan.
I wish there’s a light, at the end of this tunnel I’m in.
So that at least I know I’m on the right path.
So that I can feel a bit easier, ‘cause the end of the dark tunnel is not so far way.

My first day in Balikpapan

Yes, here I am, in Balikpapan!

Do you wonder how come I'm here? Well, I do too!! It all started about two weeks ago, when my visa for Argentina was not yet ready, and I advised my boss that we start making a contingency plan, cause I need to leave Brazil before 17th of November. Indonesians dont need a visa to stay in Chile, Peru, and Colombia for less than 90 days, so I thought an option would be to send me to a location in one of those countries, as this was also considered before when my tourist visa was about to expire. My company has more activities in Colombia, and my N+2 and N+3 are Colombians, so it seems there's a possibility that I'm going there. Strangely, my boss and his boss seemed reluctant with this idea. (Well, dont ask how I felt... I've heard too about the guerillas and kidnappings and drug cartels there...)

And my boss told me last week (on one sunny beautiful day :D) that he's thinking of sending me to Balikpapan. I am supposed to stay there until my Brazilian working visa is ready. I was surprised and excited off course, and on the other hand, I also think: hey, you should have decided this since 2-3 months ago, sir!! Before I came all the way to Brazil after my vacation! But oh, never mind, better late than never!!

However the plan was only confirmed like on Wednesday last week, cause he need to talk to his boss, and the manager in Balikpapan has to talk with her boss... Long story made short, I left Macae on Saturday, arrived in Jakarta on Monday night, stayed one night at home, and took the morning flight to Balikpapan. Met Antoni at the Balikpapan airport, turned out that we're on the same flight, what a small world!

As always and like I normally am, I am a little bit nervous too right now. Wondering what's gonna happen, can I perform well or meet the expectations etc etc.

Everybody says it should be easier to adapt with everything here, "you've been through worse, in Brazil" the colleagues in Macae told me. Hope that it's true.

Well, my bags are filled with positive energy and optimism. Hope everything's gonna be alright...no, gonna be wonderful here...

Capek hati

In an ideal and perfect world, everybody's nice to everybody else, and we all live happily ever after.

Unfortunately, in this world, there's no such thing. We tried to be nice but still people treat us badly... or maybe on the other day we're the ones being not nice to others... misunderstandings, bad mood, prejudices, jealousy, bla bla bla...

And sometimes the only way out is to let things go and swallow it, just like you swallow a terrible liquid medicine. The bad taste will stay for sometime in your mouth, but after a while you'll forget it.

Off course,  just like with the medicine, our faces change when we swallow it and let the taste pass through, becoming bitter... sometimes temporarily, can be permanently. But don't worry, it's normal, part of growing up.

Only children have that free, innocent and sincere smiles.

What can we do, huh? Those days have gone.

My uni...

Maap kalo postingan berikut rada sektoral...

Vice President of my company, second level on the board of directors, who reports directly to the CEO, is visiting Brazil. Yesterday, he visited our base. He went to each room, including ours, along with the managers and managers of the managers, and so on. Besides the VP, up to my N+4 (manager^4) was there, gulp.

He talked to everybody in the room, including me. It happens that he knows some words in Indonesian since he used to be assigned there before.

And then he asked me if I graduated from ITB, which I said yes.

I think it's pretty nice huh, the VP knows our university, guys...

Maybe cause he was the world HR manager before, maybe cause he used to live in Indonesia long long time ago... Doesn't matter what the reason is... I'm still glad :)

Another post about work... (again)

Ah betapa nikmatnya!
Sore ini, jarang-jarang, I have the room for myself.
Dengerin mp3 kenceng-kenceng (pake headphone offcourse)… thinking and wondering how my life in this company gonna be like in a few months ahead.
Project… visa… transfer… kursus…
All the uncertainties…
Kenapa ya, setiap kali mulai merasa tuned-in sama satu tempat, lalu dihadapkan dengan kemungkinan pindah. Menyebalkan.
“Technically much more challenging…” kata salah seorang dr mereka.
Intinya adalah, di sini lebih ada kehidupan.
Aku suka bosku yang sekarang di sini. (Bosku yang sebelumnya sudah dipromosi). Sepertinya orangnya baik dan care, tapi bukan tipe yang too sweet, yg membuat kita bertanya2: is he being real to us??
Do a good job, and everybody knows and congratulates you the next day. Do a mistake, and everybody starts giving you pressure and a hard time. News from Sao Mateus or Neuquen had and will arrive quickly to Macae. Fiuh.
Weird, mentorku yang sebelumnya (cewe) sat down with me one afternoon and start giving me advices on work and life. Things like: what do I want in life, what are my objectives, do I wanna get married, etc etc. I know she's being nice cause she said a male manager will not talk about things like this with me, and she thought it would be great that I start thinking about this from now. Nice. But weird really, cause I dont know her that well, and I'm not too sure if she's being sincere or not.
Anyway, I realize that I'm so much into my job... the only thing I talk about everytime I call home is work, I postponed replying messages because I felt I was too busy...
Hhh... okay... I'll try my best to maintain my work/life balance... however limited that may be... I guess the only way is to be faster and more efficient in my work....

so goes my life

bingung.

Di saat2 lain, rasanya pengen berhenti, right there, right then.

Rada-rada out of topic, salah satu engineer di ruanganku admirable banget, dan baik hati lagi. Untung dia sekarang jadi mentorku. If I ever reach 4 years seniority in the company, I would like to be someone like him. Reliable, high integrity, very confident, efficient problem solver, good attitude... Info tambahan, he has a girlfriend. Oh well, I guess nobody's perfect. :D

Bbrp hari lalu baru buka2 friendsternya teman semasa kuliah S1 yang nikah desember lalu. Mendapat kesan, (through our short mssgs and through her friendster), kalo dia berubah banget, especially after being together with her hubby. Amazing how love can really affect someone.

My wish today, I wish that someday I'm gonna meet my hubby too, and I wish that  I'll fall in love so deeply for him. The kind of love that makes me feel stronger and wanna be a better person everyday...

(And hope that he'll feel the same way to me too... :P)

Roller Coaster

Dan malamnya, aku dan Carla (my girl bestfriend here) makan malam sama kolega kita namanya Oscar Gomez.

Tadi pas makan malam, dia cerita tentang keluarganya.

;;) haha... yeah right, as if aku punya cukup days off untuk jalan-jalan...

Anyway, besok H-1 sebelum lebaran. Semoga mood ku di hari2 ke depan juga baik2 aja...

At last but not least, khawatir nanti tidak sempat atau lupa, aku mau mengucapkan selamat hari raya Idul Fitri untuk semua...

Motivasi baru, semangat baru...

Living in Brazil...

Beberapa links menarik:

Toko bukunya cantik banget. Bangunan tua, terus buku2 berserakan dimana-mana, kesannya ga terlalu ditata... tapi jadinya warm and mengundang untuk dibaca.... Sayangnya ga gitu banyak buku bahasa Inggris.

Where I'm currently staying in Macae.

Good design, nice quality and very very good price...

Where to buy make-up... ;)

Dapet link ini dari facebook. Truly pictures that speak more than a thousand words.

Have a nice sunday everyone.

"Sua vida nao é fácil"

That's what one of the engineers in my room said to me today.

Goin nuts. Not too sure until when I can handle this.

How do you call the state beyond sad? Is it desperate? Going nuts is more like it.

Probably going to Argentina in about a week or two.

It is very very difficult to act that everything's going great. Not a good actor anyway.

Lebaran is a few days away...

Dont have much to say right now. We'll talk later. Maybe.

Oh well

Sunday post from Macae

A few minutes after I wrote my previous post, I continued reading a book and instantly found this paragraph:

"If you need to leave a job, it doesn't mean that you are a quitter. If something is in conflict with your values, you should own up to it and revisit your one hat. Personal leadership starts and ends with knowing yourself and knowing where you're going, and why. Own up to what's not right, and do something about it."

Finding my one hat is not an easy thing for me. I spent almost the whole day today thinking, chatting, browsing, and still I'm confused. Something's telling me that I need to work hard to find it, take risks, make plans, be tactical.

Oh, what's gonna happen tomorrow? next month? next year? next few years? The road ahead may be bumpy, but I promise myself I won't give up my search for peace and happiness.

P.S. Just in case I forget about it in the future; own up to = confess/admit. Whew, a new word I learned today! :P

After one week in Rio...

Admittedly, it's been quite a lonely and depressing week.

And I'm not too sure why, but I'm feeling very weak, at least compared to when I was here the last time, before I had my vacation.

Talked to friends and family, via chatting, phone, sms, etc, and honestly probably they are the reasons why I can survive. I realize that I must move on, move on from this kind of life. What's the point of all this if I'm not happy and my heart is not in peace. Let me see what I can do.

After a week stranded in Rio with uncertainties, tomorrow I'm leaving to Macae, to my original location. My brain said this is the best solution considering my current visa situation. However, my heart feels a little uneasy, as Macae reminds me of those not-so-nice experiences I had before. Oh, probably it's just because it's gonna be another strange place and new people.

On the other hand - among other things - this one week experience reminds me how not nice it is to live in uncertainties, without being given any decision. Made me think I gotta resolve some things with some people. I hope that I'd have enough courage (and strength) to do it.

So here we go, I'm starting my second year in the company... Hope I can learn a lot and have wonderful experiences!

Time to go...

A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do…

Walaupun rasanya berat sekali,

Walaupun jarak berjauhan, kita harus selalu keep in touch, ok.

Singin...

Ada 2 lagu yang aku lagi suka banget.

Pertama, Michael Bublé and Laura Pausini - You'll Never Find Another Love

(Ada teks bahasa Portugisnya, mayan buat belajar :P)

You'll never find, as long as you live
Someone who loves you tender like I do
And you'll never find, no matter where you search
Someone who cares about you the way I do.
Whoa, I'm not braggin' on myself, baby
Cause I'm the one who loves you
And there's no one else! No...one else.

And you'll never find, it'll take the end of all time
Someone who understands you like I do.

Whoa, I'm not tryin' to make you stay, baby
Cause I'm the one who loves you
And there's no one else! No...one else.
You're gonna miss my love
You're gonna miss my love, you're gonna miss my love
You're gonna miss my love, you're gonna miss my love
You're gonna miss, you're gonna miss my love, miss my love

You'll never find another love like mine
Someone who needs you like I do

Whoa, I'm not braggin' on myself, baby
Cause I'm the one who loves you
And there's no one else! And there's no one else!
No...There's just no one else.
You're gonna, You're gonna miss, miss my love
You're gonna miss my love
I'm gonna miss your love
You're gonna miss my love
I'm gonna miss your love
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh
you're gonna miss my love

Kedua: Jordin Sparks - One Step At The Time

Liriknya bagus:

Hurry up and wait
So close, but so far away
Everything that you've always dreamed of
Close enough for you to taste
But you just can't touch

You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you're gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face as the door keeps slamming
Now you're feeling more and more frustrated
And you're getting all kind of impatient waiting

[Chorus]
We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen and it's
Supposed to happen that we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time

You believe and you doubt
You're confused, you got it all figured out
Everything that you wished for
Could be yours, should be yours, would be yours
If they only knew

You wanna show the world, but no one knows your name yet
Wonder when and where and how you're gonna make it
You know you can if you get the chance
In your face as the door keeps slamming
Now you're feeling more and more frustrated
And you're getting all kind of impatient waiting

[Chorus]
We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen and it's
Supposed to happen that we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time

When you can't wait any longer
But there's no end in sight
It's the faith that makes you stronger
The only way you get there
Is one step at a time

[Chorus]
Take one step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen and it's
Supposed to happen that we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time

Menohok

Suddenly something has happened to me
As I was having my cup of tea
Suddenly I was feeling depressed
I was utterly and totally stressed
Do you know you made me cry
Do you know you made me die
And the thing that gets to me
Is you’ll never really see
And the thing that freaks me out
Is I’ll always be in doubt

...

(Animal Instinct - The Cranberries)

It seemed to be like the perfect thing for you and me
It's so ironic you're what I had pictured you to be
But there are facts in our lives
We can never change
Just tell me that you understand and feel the same
This perfect romance that I've created in my mind
I'd live a thousand lives
Each one with you right by my side
But yet we find ourselves in a less than perfect circumstance
And so it seems like we'll never have the chance

Ain't it funny how some feelings you just can't deny (Oh)
And you can't move on even though you try (Oh)
Ain't it strange when you're feeling things you shouldn't feel
Oh, I wish this could be real
Ain't it funny how a moment could just change your life (Oh)
And you don't want to face what's wrong or right (No)
Ain't it strange how fate can play a part
In the story of your heart

Sometimes I think that a true love can never be
I just believe that somehow it wasn't meant for me
Life can be cruel in a way that I can't explain
And I don't think that I could face it all again

...

(Ain't it funny - Jennifer Lopez)

About migraine

I found some nice articles in Internet; for future reference. (from www.rtl.de)

Zehn Tipps für Migränegeplagte
  10. Bei Medikamenten ist zu beachten:
Medikamente zur Prophylaxe regelmäßig und langfristig einnehmen
Migräneattacken sofort behandeln. Jedoch gilt die Regel: Akutmedizin maximal an zehn Tagen pro Monat einnehmen.

Jeder dritte kennt seinen Trigger

Sigh... kayaknya dalam beberapa hari/minggu ke depan bakalan ngga enak makan ngga enak tidur deh... lots of things, pressure is running high...

Doain yah teman2... semoga semua lancar2 aja.

I’ve deliberately decided not to watch the final game of Euro Cup on Sunday, even though that means I’ll miss my one and only chance of watching Germany plays in the tournament, ‘cause… I’m going to Vitória!!!! Yippeee! Finally I’m taking my days off and will spend my weekend there. I am leaving today 4.30 pm and will be back on Sunday night.

I’m going alone, that’s the not so interesting part about the trip, but I won’t let that ruin my mood. Bought my bus ticket, booked my hotel, packed my bag… and now I’m waiting impatiently for the time for me to leave….

Not sure what I’ll do there. Shopping (for sure), have a walk on the beach; go to the movie (maybe)… whatever.

I’ll post some updates later.
Well, for now, have a GREAT weekend everyone!!!

Windows Live Writer

Lagi ngetes bikin postingan dari Windows Live Writer. The program is already in my comp when I bought it. So, daripada cuma bikin lelet, mendingan sekalian dipake :p

Denial

A line in this movie: Never underestimate the power of denial.

Been there, done that. For 3 years and 6 months. I don’t know if I were too much in love, too naïve, too young and stupid, or was being a coward. Maybe all of them. Maybe I just couldn’t face the truth that things were not as beautiful as it may seem at that time. That what I thought to be my happy ending was not real.

Since then, I always hope that I won’t make the same mistake again.

Ouch, it hurts just to remember these things, opening pages of a long forgotten chapter of my life.

Anyway, as I think about things… am I living in denial once again? Oh I surely hope not.

When will I finally accept that to end this solitude I must go home and stay there and embrace whatever life has in store for me there… That “on an ordinary sunny day Prince Charming suddenly show up in front of my door and rescue me“ is not gonna happen…

Am I living in denial? Am I being a foolish dreamer? Am I being a believer that miracles do happen?

Monday, June 16, 2008

This weekend has been a little bit different than usual. It’s been a calm week at the base; I didn’t go the field at all. On Friday afternoon, I went with PC and Robo to buy parts for the cementing unit we’re currently mounting. We stopped to eat ice cream at a place called “Boca doce” (literally means: sweet mouth), which according to Robo is the best place to eat ice cream in São Mateus. The ice cream is really delicious and so thick, and it was a hot day… hmmm nyummy…

Stayed at the base until 7 pm, then went to have dinner with the guys at Robertinho. Had very funny moments with PC (the mechanic) and Marco Lino (the electrician). It was fun. Some of the guys went to a music show afterwards. But not me; decided that I love my bed more than staying up all night listening to Forro music (a type of music famous in this region of Brazil).

Saturday, got surprising news in the morning that Marcia’s sick and PC took her to hospital earlier. As recommended by Robo and approved by Alexandre, I went there to accompany her. It turned out that she’s not staying there, but just there to see the doctor. Alexandre came and picked both of us up from the hospital. He seemed very worried, I kind of understand though; He’s the one responsible for both of us here.

Back to the base. Talked to my favorite operator Georgito who just returned after 3 days away doing a cementing job in Bahia (a state north from Espirito Santo), about 4-hour drive from our base. He told me how there they managed to find a house with a small farm where the lady who owns it agreed to let the guys pay her and in return she cooked for them. So, during the time they were there, they had fish and turkey and chicken and beef… :))

I went to the city centre with PC and Marco Lino in our dirty cover-alls for the sake of buying pen drive with discount; 2 GB and 39.90 Reais (It’s cheap, isn’t it?)

Stayed at the base the whole afternoon, helping the guys with this cementing unit. There goes my Saturday afternoon. Some remarks: It’s a really elaborate job, so many details, so many things that should be fixed and taken care of. Should really appreciate the work the guys are doing here.

Left the base at 5.30 pm with taxi. We stopped at Robertinho to take some food for Marcia, then stopped at the supermarket to buy chocolate cake for Marcia too (yeah sick person must eat well :P) then back to Robetinho to have dinner. (Gosh, I gotta stop having dinner in Robertinho like this, I'm going to gain kilos! :D)

Sunday, I worked too. Had a very nice lunch in Restaurante Bernini (first time here, very good food, and most importantly, it is FAST). Back to base and it seemed that everybody just had enough of work. Robo went home. PC, Marco Lino, and I walked back home too. Stopped first at a small place that sells Açaí ice cream (more info about Açaí here).

Back in the hotel about 4 pm and the first thing I did when I arrived at my room: sleep. Woke up around 5 and watched the movies I rented yesterday. The movie Shall We Dance was a good one. Like it a lot.

At this point I just don’t wanna think about what’s going to happen in 1.5 months from now. What would I feel, where would I go, what’s going to happen, and so on. The people here are nice, and I feel close to them now, and I just can’t imagine the day when I have to say goodbye to them. It’s going to be very sad. Sounds familiar, huh? I cried when I left Aracaju, I cried when I left UK, I cried when I left Macae… the list may grow longer…

But don’t get me wrong, I’m very happy (dan merasa sangat bersyukur) that I feel this way. Cause this means that I’m enjoying my stay in this base (and in Aracaju, and in UK, and in Macae) and that I’m having good relationships with the people here. Hmm… Good times… Sweet memories… I’m going to cherish the rest of the days I’m going to spend here.

I pray that everything is going to be alright…

Tuesday, June 10, 2008

I am so happy today! A few months ago, before I arrived here, the guys ordered company’s travelling bags (to be used when going to field). Everybody should get one, with his/her name sewn on it. And since I was not here yet, I am not on the list, and am not supposed to get one. But my boss decided not to have one and instead gave his to me, and had my name written on it! I think he’s being really nice. Appreciate that a lot! Thanks, thanks, thanks!!
Other thing, about the Euro Cup, let me make myself clear: despite talking too much sometimes and making not-serious comments about many things, to be honest I only support one team in the competition: Deutschland ueber alles! Heheh...

On a slightly different mood, well, I know this is a bit cheesy… But, if listened in the correct situation, the lyrics are just so true...

No air – Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown

…

I walked, I ran, I jumped, I flew
Right off the ground to float to you
There's no gravity to hold me down for real

But somehow I'm still alive inside
You took my breath, but I survived
I don't know how, but I don't even care

So how do you expect me
to live alone with just me
'Cause my world revolves around you
It's so hard for me to breathe

Tell me how I'm supposed to breathe with no air
Can't live, can't breathe with no air
there's how I feel whenever you ain't there
there's no air, no air
Got me out here in the water so deep
Tell me how you gonna be without me
If you ain't here, I just can't breathe
there's no air, no air

I went to field again. Left on Friday night 9 pm and was back on Saturday 4 pm. Everytime I finish pumping in a job, I feel worried and stressed out. Gimana ngga, I’ve been here 3 months, with 1 month experience of pumping cement, and I’m still pumping a mixture of merde into the well. In a month I should be doing this breakout thing, and I feel that I’m still so far away from a being an accredited supervisor.

However, what can I do about it? The only way to cement better is by practicing more, and the only way to practice is by cementing more wells. In other words: It takes time and experience. The thing is, I have no idea, am I doing okay? Or is my development too slow?

Anyway, as the job was considered done and we were returning to base, I started to feel easier again. I’m not gonna let this feeling ruin my weekend.

And I was so glad, cause Georgito – one of the equipment operators here – invited me to his nephew 1st birthday party on Saturday night, right after the job. How very nice of him. I think he understand that this weekend Marcia went to Macae and I have no friend to do anything here.

My first time to a kid’s party in Brazil, and I was not sure what it would be like. I thought it would be like a family gathering in his brother’s house, so I decided to bring a box of chocolate. I think both the birthday boy and Gabrielle (Georgito’s son, one-year-nine-month old) should like it.

It turned out that the party was held in a building, with lots of people (and kids). Good thing I was not underdressed! (Thanks to the black dress from Tante Rina :D) They hired an E.O for the party, they hired a clown… In the beginning of the party, there’s a priest (Evangelic) that led everybody to pray for the future of the birthday boy.

And I was introduced to Georgito’s family, his wife Priscilla, his mom, his brothers and sister… I am totally impressed with Brazilians' hospitality, I will never forget this. I tried some Brazilian food, ate a lot of sweets :p, and had a good time. Gabrielle is soooooo cute, and his eyes are sooo adorable.

...
ÉOWYN:
Women of this country learned long ago: Those without swords may still die upon them. I fear neither death nor pain.
ARAGORN:
What do you fear, my lady?
ÉOWYN:
A cage. To stay behind bars until use and old age accept them and all chance of valor has gone beyond recall or desire.
...

If someone asks me, what do I fear the most?
Before, my answer would be more or less similar to Eowyn.

But now, the answer would be: solitude, a lifetime solitude.
Feeling lonely, not just when I’m physically alone, but also when I’m in the middle of colleagues, friends, and family.

Suddenly I remember this film: Lost in Translation.

Hihihi... Alhamdulillah, it was ok, not too bad... at least orang-orang bisa nangkep what I was talking about. Seneng soalnya mereka kelihatannya menghargai usahaku.
Well, good job! :p

Btw, my boss from Macae called on Monday and he told me the plan he and his boss have for me. I am going back to Macae.

I am going back to Macae in 6 months. I’ll be staying in Sao Mateus until my visa is expired. Then I’ll go somewhere and work there for 3-4 months. During this time, I should take my one-month vacation (they have decided that also). Then, when my visa is ready, I should return to Macae. And this visa should allow me to stay for another 2 years.

Is this good news? I don’t know. What is good or bad news anyway? Good things about going back to Macae: Bahasa masih sama, udah tau keadaan Macae, dan at least orang di Macae percaya aku bisa kerja, sehingga mereka mau nunggu beberapa bulan sampe aku bisa balik. Bad things: so it seems that in the end I shall experience going offshore anyway, it’s not getting any nearer from home, and how about the target of finding someone to get married with?

Membingungkan.

I wish there is a sign; a clue; or at least that I can feel certain what to do next.

And let me tell you something... IT FELT REALLY GOOD... bisa menyalurkan emosi... haha...

So, for those of you out there, yang punya tendensi seperti aku, yaitu cenderung menyimpan perasaan dan mentoleransi orang lain yang bikin salah sama aku... We must stand up for our selves.

A reminder for myself sih ini sebenernya (untuk memperbaiki salah satu kelemahanku), supaya lebih ekspresif sama perasaan, lebih berani nyerang orang kalo dia emang salah, dan ga perlu takut sama konsekuensinya.

Movie-marathon

Last night I stayed over at Marcia’s place, which is the apartment for Well Services’ staffs. It was really fun. We were well prepared, off course. We rented some movies and bought lots of stuff at the supermarket. Watched Bone Collector and half of Bridget Jones’ Diary on Saturday night (both of us fell asleep during the movie). On Sunday we continued with the other half of Bridget and Saw III and Serendipity. Yeah, a mixture of suspense and romantic movies. We ate a lot; besides having risotto for dinner, we also had popcorn, chocolate cakes, chocolate toffees… my so-called diet was totally ruined!! :D

I don’t know what she might think of me... but I think Marcia is a really nice person, and having her as my friend here is interesting for me, considering we both are very different culturally. There are times when I feel that we both are struggling to understand each other (especially as she doesn’t speak English and my Portuguese is not too good). She’s a very easy person to get along with; she’s like my Indonesian girl friends. She is normal, unlike those snob guys I knew in the company. She likes shopping, worries about her weight too, paints her nails with eye-catching colors, bought a giant fluffy frog for her to sleep with… Sometimes I wonder how we manage to communicate all this time :D I guess language is just a tool we use to communicate, and attitude and personal intentions are all that matters sometimes.

About the movies that we watched; Bone Collector, watched it a few years ago and forgot the details already, good one. Saw III, honestly, I despise this type of movie. Too much blood and violence, yuck! Bridget Jones and Serendipity, I selected those two in the movie rental, and those are my kinda thing :p

Oh anyway, weekend’s almost over now. Tomorrow will be the start of another week. We plan to call the visa guy tomorrow morning. I hope soon there will be a clear decision on what’s going to happen to me next.

Thank You so much for the nice weekend…

My beloved Olympus mini-mju is broken! :(

Kameraku rusak!
Sedih juga sih, soalnya this camera has been with me for a while, sejak masa-masa internship di BASF. Dulu seneng banget pas beli kamera ini, soalnya musti nunggu lama sampai akhirnya tabungan terkumpul.

Tapi... sekarang saatnya memilih-milih yang baru... hihihi
Should it be a point-and-shoot or DSLR???? The big dilemma. :p
After considering some things and doing a quick internet research, I decided to stick to a point-and-shoot... But this time, I'm looking for something with real good qualities... What could that be??

Btw, kenapa ya, kalo inget beli kamera ini, inget ngunjungin huni ini di HH, terus inget kita beli sesuatu di Lidl, trus inget lagu Poison by Alice Cooper... ?????? ;;)

Fotoku lumayan gede lagi, kurang ajar... hahahahahaha...
How funny life can be sometimes... :D :D

P.S.
I cemented my second well today. Pimenta (the supervisor) helped me a lot. It was better, I was more calm and the density was much better than the last time. I hope that next time I can be more independent. :)

Quotes from Dead Poets Society

Movie time: Dead Poets Society
[Quoting Henry David Thoreau]
Neil: "I went into the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life... to put to rout all that was not life; and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."
[Rearrangement of sentences from H.D.T’s work: Where I lived]

John Keating: "Now we all have a great need for acceptance, but you must trust that your beliefs are unique, your own, even though others may think them odd or unpopular, even though the herd may go,"
[imitating a goat]
John Keating: "that's baaaaad." "Robert Frost said, "Two roads diverged in the wood and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference."

and last but not least:
John Keating: "Carpe, carpe diem, seize the day boys, make your lives extraordinary."

It is so hard today to concentrate on my work; to try to get things done.
Not that I didn’t try, but it seems that my mind is travelling some place else.
I showed the email about the visa to Alexandre, and he said this is a serious matter.
Most likely I’ll go to another place. Permanent transfer, temporarily, or back to Indo? I have no idea.
Oh, my stomache aches when I think about this. Where will I be in 2.5 months?

Whatever that's going to happen, I pray that it's for the best.

Cemented

Yesterday night I cemented my first well.
And it was a disaster! buhuhuhuuuu :((

The density was fluctuating like crazy... And it was quite complicated to control everything all at the same time. The level of cement and mix water, the density, the flow rate, the volume...
And the guy from Petrobras was screaming – amidst the loud noise from the engines – tellling me to reduce the density...
Instead of opening/closing the cement valve little by little, I operated it like turning a steering wheel, full turn, right and left!
Damn!! :D
Thank God I didnt get frantic when I was up on the unit and in the end we all laughed about it.

Everybody said it's okay, it's normal, it happens to every first-timer. (I hope they are being honest here!)
Robo, the very old supervisor who went with me was very sweet and taught me everything patiently. (I owe him a lot!)
Hope Alexandre (my boss here) wont take a piece out of me when I meet him on Monday!
And I hope next time it's gonna get better!

For now, I just wanna forget about it for a while and enjoy my saturday night without thinking of anything related to work at all!

A-ha, Scoundrel days

Really great song! Love the tune!

Btw, vokalisnya A-ha emang soo good looking! ;)

Was that somebody screaming
It wasn't me for sure
I lift my head up from uneasy pillows
Put my feet on the floor
Cut my wrist on a bad thought
And head for the door

Outside on the pavement
The dark makes no noise
I can feel the sweat on my lips
Leaking into my mouth
I'm heading out for the steep hills
They're leaving me no choice

And see... as our lives are in the making;
We belive through the lies and the hating
That love goes free

For want of an option
I run the wind 'round
I dream pictures of houses burning
Never knowing nothing else to do
With death comes the morning
Unannounced and new

Was it too much to ask for
To pull a little weight
They forgive anything but greatness
These are scoundrel days
And I'm close to calling out their names
As pride hits my face
Woah!

See...as our lives are in the making:
We believe through their lies and the hating
That love goes free through scoundrel days

I reach the edge of town
I've got blood in my hair
Their hands touch my body
From everywhere
But I know that I've made it
As I run into the air

And see...as our lives are in the making;
We believe through the lies and the hating
That love goes through
Through scoundrel days

I really really wish my life can be clearer to me.
Where am I going next? What should I be doing and what is the job that is best for me?
Where will I meet my soulmate, and is there someone who is destined to be with me?
Don’t tell me to be strong.
Maybe it’s not about being strong and overcoming challenges anymore.
It’s about being true to myself, “Am I really enjoying this?”
“Is this really something I want to do?”

Sometimes work can be very boring! B-O-R-I-N-G!!!
Ugh, if only I have more friends here... more things to do, more places to hang out at…

P.S.
Today I met David, my ex-flatmate in Macae. He is transferred permanently to Aracaju, and now he is having his days off. He's driving all the way from Macae to Aracaju, and today he stopped by in Sao Mateus just to say hi to the guys at the base.

Shared some stories with him. He did his breakout already (how I envy him - in a good way :p - for that). Ah, he reminds me of my fun-and-depressing-both-at-the-same-time life in Macae.

Miss him and Gleb and Gustavo.
Time passes by and moments never repeat.
There were four of us in the apartment. And now, Gustavo is in Argentina, David in Aracaju, Gleb in Tulsa, and me, here.

Ok, stop being melancholic and better focus more on my work and put all efforts to do my breakout. Yeah right... *Sigh*... I'll try... I'll try...

Ratatouille

Yippee!!

Btw, Ratatouille lucu yaaa!

Hrrgrgrggghhhh... Menyebalkan!!!

Five for Fighting - 100 years

current mood: romantic melancholic

:P

During tough times, we tend to forget, why we’re there at the 1st place.
“If only I’m not here, things would have been better”
“Anything other than this is better” and “Anywhere but here is perfect”
We forget that there were reasons why we decided to be there, to be doing what we’re doing, to be where we are now.
Reasons we've known and understood, and reasons that haven't been revealed to us yet.

A reminder to myself... be strong...be patient...

Moving In

I’m now living in a city called Sao Mateus, north of Macae and Rio. It’s a land location. I don’t have any idea until when I’ll be staying here. Maybe a few months, maybe longer.
Currently I’m trying to fit in to everything. To the new people, new base, new customs, new city. Everybody in Macae said the people here are nice and that I’ll like it here. I sure hope they are right.

Some interesting things:

So far she’s been so nice to me. :)

Not so interesting things:

Disini kalo ke base dan pulang tiap hari musti jalan kaki, sekali jalan kurang lebih setengah jam. Masalahnya bukan di jarak sih, tapi kadang panassssss banget :(

Biasanya kalo lunch aku juga pulang, jadi in total sehari pulang-pergi 2 kali. Anehnya, tambah kurus engga (diduga keras pengaruh coffee break), tapi tambah item iya.

Just a quick update...

I wrote to my personnel manager abt my current situation. He told me if this week I still cant go offshore, we should arrange for my temporary transfer to a land location. Good news for me. I hope my direct manager wont get upset by this. Hey, anyway, I coincidentally met the personnel manager last week, and he coincidentally asked me how my training is going and asked me to email him... However, I got the feeling that the transfer process (IF I'll be transferred) will not happen that fast or that smooth.

And my chance of going offshore this week is also nil. From IOC, Cadu said, no accommodation for woman is available on the rig. Petrobras, my SISPAT's not finished yet (too much paperwork and it is getting even more complicated because I'm a foreigner), and even if I got my SISPAT already, there's still no vacant place available too.

Anyway, another news is coming. Since I came back from school, I stayed in the apartment for Stimulation with 3 other guys. They are my real friends here, people I can talk to (about work and other stuff). Two of them left to Aracaju 2 weeks ago (temporary transfer) so since then the person I can talk to here is down to one. Yesterday this guy found out that he's going to be transferred (permanently) to Argentina. Good for him; I'm glad really, he's been waiting for this for a while.

The only 'small' problem is that, I'm gonna be alone now. Alone in the apartment, and also alone in the base. I'm gonna miss him. Ga ada lagi yang rela bawa2 aku buat nonton2 bola bareng, barbeque-an or nonton samba... oh well, yeah, I know it's part of the job and I should get used to this.

Gonna miss you my dear friend...Thanks 4 everything... :)

Oh God,
Things are not running smoothly lately
Tough times... tough times...

Why is everything so wrong?
I know, I know things can get worse, I know I'm still lucky enough,
I know, that everytime I think that things are bad, they get even worse.

5 months to go to reach the time of 1 year in the company.
Can I survive until then? Will I stay afterwards?
Why am I so f*cked up?

Monday, February 25, 2008

Oh my God...
No... I just can't believe this...
He quit... He quit the job!
Why??!! What could have happened??
Nooooo.... :((

He was the number 1 in class, the most motivated one, the one who wanted to be the best cementer...
Nooooooo.......................... no no no no :((
Why him? why him?
I keep shaking my head in disbelief...

Aku lagi sedih...
Ga tau entah kenapa.
Kalo mau dicari-cari alasannya banyak, tapi ga tau yang mana penyebab utamanya.
kadang2 aku berharap seandainya aja aku ga terlalu sensitif. Ga terlalu perasa.
Sampai kapan ya bakal begini?

Tuesday, February 05, 2008

Hey hey world…
Today I got myself a new thing that should keep me busy for some days.

With all the new features and new looks of Windows Vista and Office 2007, I already feel lost and am missing the simplicity of the very familiar Windows XP.

It’s true what people in internet were complaining about; Vista is slow, my old computer – almost 4 years old now – is much faster. But so far for me the nice new look balances out this weakness.

But I’m satisfied, and I hope I made a good choice. It’s Toshiba, same brand as my old computer. Forget Sony Vaio or Dell, they are horribly expensive! (This entry for example, is just made for trying the Word 2007 out :P)

This should solve some problems I had in Macae. The company’s laptop is too much of a burden to do private things with. But oh, I guess now I need the expertise of some IT –minded people. What to do with this and that… those and these…

Status: happy and confused at the same time, sleeping disorder, eating disorder, jetlag.

P.S. Had dinner with Mom, Dad, and Tante Rina at Sushi Tei at PIM. Love the sushi and miss Om Sony. Jadi inget waktu baru pulang dari Jerman diajak makan Sushi Tei sama Om Sony dan dinasehatin panjang lebar soal kerjaan.

Monday, February 04, 2008

Soo glad that I can make it to your wedding.
Very happy for both of you.
Love u sis. :)

Ok, so it's vacation time.
So little time, so much to do.
Let's don't waste a minute.

Friday, January 25, 2008

Jadi teringat sesuatu yang kita sepakati bersama waktu di school, one weekend in a small restaurant in Newark.

In this company, at any given time, everybody is very close to quitting the job.

Guys, we were right.
Well, maybe I'm not in a good mood that's all.

It's gonna pay-off. Someday it's gonna pay-off. Someday it's gonna pay-off.
In whichever form it may take.

Let's say that over and over and over today.

Thursday, January 24, 2008

Geez, I think I really need to have someone to talk to, and fast.
Cause I might end up littering this blog with very unimportant and daily rubish.
(Don't get me wrong, I do have some friends here, but it's just that... we're not that close yet)

It’s another boooooooooooooring day in the base. I mean, have you ever felt so bored that you feel like you want to cry? Well, I didn’t cry, but I really felt like to.
My mood became so horrible and I became so grumpy.

And my boss (probably due to coincidence) asked me how I am doing (Tudo tranquil?). Oh, it was like pouring a gasoline to a fire. I just said yeah, sure (because another engineer was there and mainly because we were talking in Portuguese and in Portuguese I cant speak too much). And then a few minutes later I rushed to his room discussing my situations.

We talked quite long. Actually nothing new there, he was just telling me that it’s alright, it’s normal… this is a location with low activity, few jobs but big money, etc etc. Be patient… you can do this and this… etc etc…

Hmm, on the other hand, I don’t know what people think about me making this move. Because they looked at me differently after I finished talking with my boss. Did I take too much time talking? Hmm… cause I don’t really understand the culture of people here…
The last thing I wanna do is showing off or kissing somebody’s (especially boss’) ass.
Nevermind, I just don’t care.

Tuesday, January 22, 2008

Banyak banyak banyak yang mo diceritain…

Well, pertama2, I’m still at the base. Stuck. Low activity. Offshore, only a very limited number of people is allowed on the platform. Woman, accommodation limitations. Bla bla bla. In terms of job, it’s been pretty boring.

In terms of love life, yeah, also boring. Got in touch once or twice with this oh-so-not-important guy I met in school. The reality hit me again (for the n-th time) that the kind of guy I’m looking for most probably live on the other side of the planet, which made me end up questioning myself: ‘then what the #$%& am I doing here?’

Perhaps I mentioned it before somewhere in my older posts, or maybe I didn’t…well, anyway…
(I am writing this while thinking about all the crazy things I did…)
I often feel that this job is forcing me to do things I fear and I dislike the most… to be comfortable speaking in public, to be a leader, to have very good social skill, to speak up and stand up for myself, to feel OK to be different, to jump to the sea and swim 100 meters to a lifeboat for the sake of a certificate called Basic Survival Training, not to bother when I am left out sometimes…

I hope and I pray that, the end of this (whenever and however that may be) will be a happy ending.

A very good book. Moving and very touchy.
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Not many books can really make me cry when I read them.
This book is one of the exceptions.

The clock is ticking, so fast.
Where am I going?
I wish I know.

Going to be 28 this year.
I have a lot of wishes in the New Year.
Among others: Faith, love, happiness, health, and success.
For me and for everybody I know.

Dissappointed, but what for?
There’s nothing that I can do about it anyway, isnt it?
It's for the best. Yeah, for sure.
I know I should stop complaining, here and now.
Should see life from a different point of view and be grateful.
But just that, I wish, if only, there’s a little light out there, just a little maybe… a reason so I can feel easier and smile cheerfully again.
