still some scraps
From Jan 26th to Feb 7th, my friends and I, the three of us, had a trip to Italy.
I went with Novi (my best-girl-friend here in Hamburg), and Yonny. The trip was so memorable… Doing crazy stuff, making stupid jokes, with unforgettable experiences…
Something we all will remember when we’re old and wrinkled… :D and then we might smile and say: “Do you remember the hedonism life we had in Venice? Oh how crazy and fun it was…”
Milan, Jan 26 – Jan 28
“Gosh… Look at those cameras… He really takes this thing seriously…” that was the first thing on my mind when I saw Yonny’s stuff. Cameras, tripod, monopod, folded chair (believe me, it is a chair), lenses, films, batteries, chargers…
We met at ZOB and took the bus to Lübeck airport. On our way there, the snow was falling, as if feeling sad we’re going to leave Hamburg… hehehe… ok… let’s cut the narcissism… :D
Arrived at Lübeck airport. It’s quite small, and the only logo I saw was Ryanair. Is it the only airline that uses this airport or what??
It was kinda weird to go on a trip with someone you don’t really know, such as Yonny. At first, I didn’t know much about him. Except that he’s also TUHH student, he likes photography and is very good in it... But he turned out to be quite crazy and fun, even tough he can be a little jaim sometimes… :D
(So, Yon, what does BBS SMY stand for??? Hehehe…)
The flight from Lübeck to Bergamo lasted about one hour. We flew over the Alps. I was lucky, because I sat next to the window so I could see almost everything… It was… amazing…
Seeing the Alps from above is another experience… The big mountains seemed so small. Those mountains, hills, and plains are covered with snow, and they looked like the cover of the bed after being slept on the night before…
Arrived in Bergamo. Took the bus to get to Milan central station. Our hotel was quite close to the central station, only 5 minutes is needed to get there on foot. After freshened ourselves up a little bit, we started our journey by visiting the church St. Maria della Grazie, hoping off course to see the famous painting on the wall: Leonardo’s The Last Supper.
Ok, so we’d found the church. We went inside. Hmm, well, nice church. Great statues, great paintings… but still, not the last Supper. So, where is it? Maybe the next one. Nope. Well, maybe there, on the corner. Wrong. Perhaps on the other side of the church. Nothing. Hmm, probably there’s a door or whatever around here that will lead us to a room where the painting was kept.
No, nothing… it was kinda strange…
Well, it turned out that the painting was not situated inside the church (why didn’t the guide book mention about this???!!!!), but outside, on the piazza just beside the church. And to see the painting, you have to pay 6 € (or was it 8? I can’t remember). The number of visitor to see this painting per day is limited. And at that day, the limit was exceeded. So, to see the famous painting, we would have to come again the following day, pay 6 €, and this is just to see ONE painting…
We decided that the painting was just NOT worth all the trouble, so we took off, and headed to another famous part of Milan… the street where the world-famous-brands are… :D
Like Paris, Milan is famous for fashion. When you come to Milan, you can feel that the people here care more about fashion (just like the people in Paris).
According to the book, this avenue, called -------- is one of the must-see things in Milan. That’s why we went there. But, there’s nothing we could do there :D except from reading the brand names slowly (long Italian names are difficult to read) and added the “woooww…” or “uuuuuuhh…” expressions…
So we didn’t stay there too long, and we hurried back to the central station, to have dinner in another world –famous-brand: McDonald. :D Who would have thought, there was an offer in McD! Hamburger for 50 cents! Cheeseburger for 1€! Fillet of fish for 2€…! We ordered like we never had burgers before :D
After dinner, we decided to continue our journey and visited the famous Galeria Vittorio Emanuele II at night. It was the landmark of the city I guess. A very beautiful place for shopping centres, restaurants, and hotel. When we got there, all the stores are closed, and not too many people were there. So, Yonny took pictures of the building, and in the end… he took pictures of us too :)
“So… this is how it feels… to be a model, doing a photo session in Milan, in a public place…”
Hahaha…
So, that’s the end of day 1.

Mandalawangi - Pangrango by Soe Hok Gie
Barusan baca puisi ini, dikirim oleh Kak Henky di bulletin board-nya friendster :)
Puisi yang cantik sekali... terutama bait ke-5...
Hope you like it as much as I do... :)
Mandalawangi - Pangrango by Soe Hok Gie
Senja ini, ketika matahari turun kedalam jurang2mu
aku datang kembali kedalam ribaanmu, dalam sepimu
dan dalam dinginmu
walaupun setiap orang berbicara tentang manfaat dan guna
aku bicara padamu tentang cinta dan keindahan
dan aku terima kau dalam keberadaanmu
seperti kau terima daku
Mandalawangi Kau datang kembali
melampaui batas2 hutanmu, melampaui batas2 jurangmu
aku cinta padamu Pangrango
karena aku cinta pada keberanian hidup

After the trip
In the end, I have to say this:
This may not be such a perfect holiday
It might be too long
In the beginning, I hardly knew the guy I went together with
We had quarrels too sometimes
We survived those “garing” jokes
And made a lot of dirty jokes ;)
It ended up to be two girls lost in Florence and Rome, hanged only on a guide book on Italy
For me, the trip was an escape from all my thoughts and burdens
And, the plan that this should be a secret trip didn’t work at all :D
But,
As everything has ended, and we have to go back to normal life and to reality,
I must say that I am glad that we went together and made that journey.
It was an unforgettable experience,
With sweet memories,
About friendship, taking chances, and freedom…
P.S
To a dear friend of mine who always protests when I use “we” as the subject in my sentences:
This time, I really do mean "we", the three of us...
Have a nice time home, hun!!
